When it was announced Fleur was releasing a makeup range I was really excited - she was the first beauty blogger I started following and I always turn to her when I'm looking for a review of a product as I find she's almost always right and has brilliant taste in makeup. I knew her makeup line would be special, because I couldn't imagine her releasing something she wasn't 100% happy with. It's taken me a little while to get my hands on her products, but better late than never!
The Cosmic Bronze Eyeshadow Quad (£7.99) is right up my street, in fact the four colours are all my go-to type of colours for both everyday wear and when I want something a bit more smokey. As soon as I caught a glimpse of it in the shops I had to pick it up.
I'm a huge neutral shadow's gal, browns and shimmery nudes are practically all I wear so you can imagine how much I love the colours in this quad, however I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the quality. I expected these shadows to be highly pigmented but they're not - as you can see from the swatches the darker two shades are a decent pigmentation, especially for a drugstore product, but the lighter two are hardly visible. I also found the dark brown to be quite chalky and it made a little bit of a mess when I applied it, having said that it was easy to blend and I did manage to create a nice crease colour with the dark brown once I'd got used to the texture.
Staying power is where there's 4 eyeshadows excel, they do last practically all day on me. I don't normally have a problem with eyeshadow creasing anyway, but these do stay on the lid very well especially if you use a primer underneath.
I think perhaps I expected a little too much from Fleur's line, and almost forgot that they're still drugstore products. That in mind I do recommend this quad palette, the colours are so wearable and versatile but just don't be thinking you're getting high-end quality products for a drugstore price.
It's a welcome addition to my eyeshadow collection and I will be reaching for it quite a lot, it just doesn't excite me the way the Naked palettes or my beloved Stila palettes do.
Have you bought anything from
Fleur de Force's range?

I haven't tried any of Fleur's makeup yet. I like the look of these colours, especially the darker two. As you say it's a shame about the pigmentation of some of them but I'm glad you found a way to work with it in the end! x

This is the first review I've seen of Fleur's makeup... That medium brown looks beautiful. As for the chalkiness, I agree, what do you expect with drugstore quality? But it's not really a problem with a good primer!

Definitely, a good primer solves it :) x
DeleteYeah the darker shades look amazing but I see what you mean about the lighter shades! They are not that pigmented! I like the one the second on the left! It's gorgeous!!

I knew Fleur had bought out a make up range but I wasn't aware she was doing eyeshadow quads, especially ones with such pretty shades! I'll be adding this to my wish list, I'm really eager to try the 3rd shade, it looks gorgeous in the pan & in your swatch! Very wearable day to day shades like you said too :-) Lovely post & I like how you were completely honest!

I just recently started watching Fleur's videos and I can't wait to try out her make-up line! The shades in that palette look gorgeous and wearable, but I think I'll try out one of her lip products first. Her Written in the Stars lipgloss looks right up my street x
